IMPACT

Watch this six-minute video to learn more about the impact your donations to Mitchell’s Fund make.

Mitchell’s House is a non-profit counseling center for sick children with terminal or life-threatening diagnosis, their siblings and parents.

Since 2016, Mitchell’s Fund has provided funding to support two mental health counselors who work in the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at Novant Health, and supported programs that promote understanding to reduce the stigma of mental health illness.

In 2022, Mitchell’s House opened as a project of Mitchell’s Fund that provides counseling and play therapy services to sick children with a terminal or life-threatening diagnosis, their siblings, parents or legal guardians regardless of ability to pay.

Our licensed counselors serve the most fragile of populations – children and families facing extremely serious, often deadly, illnesses.  Counselors help children and families navigate the shock of diagnosis, pain and anxiety of treatment and, in some cases, help prepare for end of a child’s life

The needs of a sick child overwhelm a parent’s capacity to care for siblings, and siblings often have no mental health support during the most traumatic time in their lives. Medical debt for families experiencing a life threatening or terminal childhood illness is crippling.  Financial hardship is the number one detriment to access mental health care.

Our counselors and child life professionals hold evening and weekend office hours to accommodate the children and their families. Each Client and family member is granted (4) sessions to start.

We will offer individual and group counseling. Group counseling helps build community with people who are experiencing one of the most awful life experiences imaginable. It helps Clients and family members understand they are not alone in their struggle. Donate today.
